Two Dutch national team players are accompanying Craig Montvidas and his pitching coach Karen Marr in National Pro Fastpitch, the professional softball league in the United States. Third base Virginie Anneveld and pitcher Dagmar Bloeming are joining the former head coach of the Dutch women’s national team with the Pennsylvania Rebellion in the NPF.
Bloeming has been one of the best pitchers in European softball. She was named best pitcher in 2012 and 2014 in the Dutch Hoofdklasse, posting a pair of undefeated campaigns and ERAs of 0.63 and 0.52. In 2013 she was playing in the Italian Softball League for DES Caserta. She is coming from Sparks Haarlem to NPF.
Anneveld is also coming from Sparks Haarlem. The infielder already has won four championships in the Hoofdklasse and played for the Tex Town Tigers prior to transferring to Haarlem. She has been playing for the Dutch National Team since 2009 and was named MVP at the 2011 European Championship.
The Rebellion are opening the 2015 season on May 29. The regular season runs through August 11. KNBSB already has confirmed that Montvidas won’t be available to manage the Dutch National Team during the European Championship in Rosmalen in July.
