At the end of February we were under the impression that the Baseball tournament at the South American Games in Colombia got canceled due to a lack of participating teams. However the event was back on with Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina and the Netherlands Antilles battling for the trophy according to a report on Honkbalsite.com.
Venezuela won the event by defeating Colombia 10-8 in the championship game on Saturday. Argentina picked up third with an 8-6 win over Netherlands Antilles. Venezuela had won all three games during the preliminary round and reached the finals due to an 11-1 rout over Argentina in the semis. Colombia, which already had beaten the Netherlands Antilles during the first round, advanced due to a 3-2 nail-biter.
