Vaessen Pioniers, Sparta/Feyenoord win Preseason Tournaments in Netherlands

We already reported about the results of the Jersey53 Cup in Utrecht. Two other preseason tournaments were played in the Netherlands with Hoofdklasse participation.

The Vaessen Pioniers won the “In Memoriam Charles Urbanus Sr. Tournament” in Bussum at the Mr. Cocker HCAW facilities. It was the first win for the team from Hoofddorp at that tourney since 2009. The AamigoO ADO Lakers ended up in second place before host HCAW. Defending Hoofdklasse champion L&D Amsterdam had to settle for fourth place. Sidney de Jong (Amsterdam) got named MVP, Michael Duursma (Pioniers) best batter and Mathijs Naujoks (Robur’58) best pitcher.

Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam won its own Hudson John Tournament by winning all three games at the 14th edition of the preseason warm-up. Derrick Isenia of the Brasschaat Braves was named MVP with Kevin van Nederpelt taking home the trophy for the best batter.
