On Monday the promoted UVV announced the acquisitions for the 2011 season in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. Eleven players will join the team of new head coach Royce Holder. Just two of the 2010 team, Mathijs Vuisters and Maarten de Wilde (both retiring), will not come back. More changes are still a possibility throughout the winter, but the main activities on the transfer market are finished.
With pitchers Jurien van Zijl and Joep de Wit, catcher Giovannie Samboe and outfielder Danny Rombley, four players already have played for UVV in the past. Additionally Patt Rombley and Cliff Foster will join the coaching staff, who also wore the UVV jersey in the past. Currently about 30 players are on the team and also will go into training camp next spring. However before the start of the season, the roster is going to be reduced to 20 players. Those who are not making the cut will reinforce the second team.
