Unipol Bologna signs Victor Moreno to replace Jesus Matos

Posted on March 20, 2013March 20, 2013 by philipp

Unipol Bologna suffered a blow last weekend, as longtime ace Jesus Matos won’t be coming to Italy this year due to an illness suffered during the winter in the Colombian Winter League. But Fortitudo has found a successor. 30-year-old Dominican right-hander Victor Moreno – not to be confused for Bologna’s Victor Moreno who pitched for them between 2009 and 2011 – will take over for Matos at the front of the pitching staff. He pitched affiliated minor league ball for the Anaheim Angels and St. Louis Cardinals in 2004 and 2006 and spent the last two seasons in the Mexican League. In 2012 he pitched to a 1-2 record and an ERA of 3.94 in three starts for Saltillo. Together with Raul Rivero he is supposed to fill the hole left by Matos. Moreno is scheduled to arrive on March 30.
