UGF Bologna wins 2010 Coppa Italia

UGF Bologna has won the consolation prize in the Italian Baseball League, the Coppa Italia. They beat Danesi Nettuno 2-1 in the best-of-three final series last weekend and earned a trip to the 2011 European Cup. Fortitudo had lost the Italian Baseball Series to Cariparma Parma ten days ago. It was the seventh Coppa Italia title for Bologna in team history.

Nettuno had the better start into the best-of-three set, taking a 1-0 lead after celebrating a 4-3 victory on Friday evening. But Bologna came back on Saturday to even the series with a 10-0 shutout. In the decisive third match of the final series Fortitudo eventually prevailed 5-2 thanks to a 4-for-4 day by Joe Mazzuca.
