Poland defeated Lithuania in a de facto playoff game, clinching a spot aside Germany in Group A in the semifinals of the Under-23 European Baseball Championship B-Pool at Ahorn Ballpark in Paderborn, Germany, while Belgium eased past Ukraine and Sweden and Denmark played a surprisingly tight game to determine the other two spots in the semis.
Szymon Dwojakowski fired four no-hit innings for Poland, during which the Polish baseball squad scored eight runs, with two hits coming from Hubert Zgórzyński collecting another two hits following a strong performance for the senior national team in Poland last week.
Nando Mostaert went the distance for Belgium, supported by a double and a single apiece from Adam Troch and Len Kilmek, with Yevhenii Dmytriiev doing the same for Ukraine. Denmark out-hit Sweden, with Fred Rasmussen and Jonas Bak both collecting two hits and Ford Schröder doubling for the third-straight game, but Tobias Glimmerud, Jonas Sjölund, and Kasper Laufke kept Denmark off the scoreboard for the first six innings and Jakob Lindkvist homered for the second game in a row.
