The U18 European Championship started on Monday in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The tournament will be played from July 13 to 19 with ten teams. Since the international baseball calendar is in a transition period, the Junior Euros this year don’t serve as qualifier for the U18 Baseball World Cup in 2017 and no team will be relegated to the B-Pool.
The favorites are once again the Netherlands, Italy and Czech Republic. However Spain, Germany and France also hope to have a word or two in regards to the podium. Based on the participating countries it’s the most important European youth competition this year. Pool A features Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Great Britain. Pool B consists of Czech Republic, Croatia, Netherlands, Sweden and Russia.
