The U15 Baseball World Cup in Sinaloa, Mexico started on Thursday with nine first-round games. Germany scored 13 runs in the first three innings to run over New Zealand 13-1. It was the lone European victory on opening day. Samuel Steigert and David Reichertz collected two runs and two RBI apiece. Florian Seidel pitched four scoreless innings.

The Czech Republic lost 2-12 to Brazil. Ondrej Furko surrendered five runs on eight hits in the first 4 1/3 frames to take the loss. Italy received an even worse clubbing. They managed just two walks in a 0-23 blowout against Mexico.

It was one of two no-hitters on the first day, as defending champion didn’t allow any hits in a 15-0 rout over Hong Kong. Chinese Taipei shut out Guatemala 10-0. Japan crushed South Africa 15-1. Argentina lost 2-12 against Cuba. USA concluded day one with a 14-2 victory over Panama. Overall winners out-scored their opposition 133-8 through the first nine games.
