Trey Hendricks new Head Coach of Gauting Indians

Posted on December 29, 2008 by philipp

The 26-year-old Ivy League alumni Trey Hendricks is the new head coach of the German Baseball-Bundesliga club GAUTING INDIANS. He will start his new job in the suburbs of Munich at the end of January. He was born 1982 in Houston, Texas and went to Harvard University from 2002 to 2004. He was selected to the All-Ivy and the All New England team three times. The switch-hitting corner infielder also received awards for pitcher of the year and batting champion in the Ivy League in 2004.

In June 2004 the Arizona Diamondbacks organization selected him in the 24th round of the amateur draft and Hendricks signed shortly after. He played in a total of 244 games for the Low-A and Single-A affiliates of the D-backs until 2006, batting .252 (OBP .301/SLG .359) with 18 homeruns and 115 RBIs. The past two years he played independent league ball in the Frontier and United League. He also worked as a coach with an under-20 squad in Australia and with a High School Select Team in Atlanta, Georgia.
