The TORNADOS scored four runs in the first three frames en route to an easy 12-5 win against the LEGIONAERE on Sunday to tie the best-of-five series for the German Baseball-Bundesliga championship. The series resumes next weekend in Mannheim.

The MANNHEIM offense pounded out twelve runs on 13 hits in the game and also got help from a terrible performance by the REGENSBURG defense, which committed seven errors on the day. Jens Heymer scored two of the first four runs. Billy Hess drove in two with a triple in the sixth. Fred Kraft also scored twice.

Alex Lauterbach hit his second homerun of the series for the BUCHBINDER LEGIONAERE. Ludwig Glaser continued his hot hitting with a two-run hit in the fifth.

Eddie Aucoin picked up the win with seven solid innings. His only real struggle came in the fifth, when he gave up two runs on five hits. Craig Pycock closed it out. Martin Almstetter took the loss after five-plus innings.

Notes: 750 people were in attendance on Sunday….TORNADOS head coach Georg Bull was ejected by home plate umpire Dirk Biehl in the sixth.…Lauterbach left the game with an undisclosed injury….Rodney Gessmann, who had a shoulder injury, which ended his stint with the Minnesota Twins organization this Spring, pitched the ninth for REGENSBURG
