Topps Names Buster Posey Brand Ambassador, Unveils 2015 Series Two MLB Cards

Press Release Topps Company

New York City, June 10, 2015 – The Topps Company today announced that it has selected 2012 National League MVP and three-time World Series Champion Buster Posey as its Brand Ambassador for 2015. Posey, the 2010 National League Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-Star, will handle promotional appearances for Topps, and assist in various social media outreach programs. The announcement coincides with the June 17th launch of Topps® Series Two Baseball, featuring a 350-card base set that combined with February’s Topps® Series One Baseball makes this year’s card set the company’s largest in 10 years.

“There are few things that are more American iconic than baseball cards, and I am proud to work with TOPPS on this partnership, which will celebrate all that is good about collecting and digital engagement in and around baseball,” Posey said. “From rookies to seasoned veterans, everyone knows the special excitement that players get when they see their cards, and our goal is to make sure that experience is transferred to the collector whether he has been collecting for years or just starting out.”

“We welcome Buster as our official ambassador for 2015,” said Clay Luraschi, Topps’ Vice President of Product Development. “There are few people, let alone athletes, who are better role models than he is, not just in the way he plays, but in his dedication to off-field activities such as family and community service. We are looking forward to working with him to help us continue to grow and engage our brand.”

Several popular offerings that first appeared in 2015 Topps Series One Baseball are back for Series Two, including First Pitch cards. New subjects include actor Jon Hamm, comic and pop culture icon Stan Lee, Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart of The Grateful Dead, and actor Chris Pratt.

The set will also have the first flagship Rookie Cards for Cubs standout Kris Bryant and Diamondbacks star Yasmany Tomas. In addition, the “Highlight of the Year” autograph and relic subset, which brings the past alive by highlighting iconic moments in baseball history, returns with Rickey Henderson, Nolan Ryan, and Cal Ripken Jr., featured on cards.

The Series Two base set will also include Veterans, Rookies, Future Stars, Award Winners, and new highlights from the 2014 season.
