Posted on June 15, 2008 by philipp

The SCHWAZ TIGERS put the reigning champion VIENNA METROSTARS into danger to miss the playoffs this season. The beat them on the road 10-8 and 5-3. Franz Haisjackl closed out game one and held the METS down in the second part of the doubleheader, as the TIGERS starter. SCHWAZ moved into second with a 10-4 record. VIENNA has now lost seven in a row and stands at 7-9 in fifth.

The SUPERFUND WANDERERS swept their twin bill in Stockerau against the STOCK CITY CUBS. Nick De Forest hit a three-run homerun in the first inning of match one on their way to a 5-2 win. They pounded out 25 runs in the second to win easily 25-4.

The MOSQUITO ATHLETICS crushed the DORNBIRN INDIANS 15-0 in game one. The second belonged to the guests and pitcher BJ Veronee, who stopped the powerful offense by the A’s and led his team to a 7-6 road victory.

Besides two make up doubleheaders in the next two weeks, the Austrian Baseball League is off for five weeks due to the European Cup Qualifiers, the All Star Game and the Qualifier for the European Championship for the National Team.
