Three Dutch players, who are playing in the USA, were added to the 40-man-roster of their respective teams. The move of Rick VANDEN HURK was no surprise, because he pitched already for the major league team of the Florida Marlins. But also pitcher Alexander SMIT (Cincinnati Reds) and outfielder Rogeravin BERNADINA (Washington Nationals) got the nod. All three now have their invitations for next year’s major league spring training camp in their pocket. Three major leaguer with Dutch roots, Andruw JONES (Free Agent), Jair JURRJENS (both Atlanta Braves) and Wladimir BALENTIEN (Mariners) got the same treatment.
The pro-career of Wesley CONNOR however hit a rock. He was released by the Minnesota Twins organization and it is expected, that he returns to his home country club Amsterdam Pirates. He played for them already in the 2007 playoffs. He hit .293 with the Elizabethton Twins this year.
