Mister-Baseball.com has learned that Thomas DeWolf is leaving the Mainz Athletics to join the Mannheim Tornados in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. It will be his fourth Bundesliga club after the Tubingen Hawks, Stuttgart Reds and Mainz. He signed with the A’s midway through the season after his stint with independent league baseball in the United States was over after five games. He then hit .444/.640/1.156 with 10 home runs, 33 runs and 25 RBI in just 15 games with Mainz during the regular season. In the end they won the German championship for the second time after 2007. The 27-year-old was the first minor leaguer to sign with a MLB organization, when he joined the New York Mets in 2009.
