The Dutch team had no problems to beat debutant Thailand in their first game. They used a ten-run-sixth to win 16-0 in seven innings (called due to mercy-rule).
The Netherlands needed three innings to shake of some rust an the plate. They started the pounding with four runs in the fourth and added two more in the sixth. After that frame, Thailand changed their pitcher and reliever Natapong MEEBOONROD was clearly overmatched. Holland put ten runs on the board in the sixth to end the day earlier. They could even rest some of the players in the end.
Vince ROOI had three hits and four RBI in four at-bats. Martijn MEEUWIS, Hainley STATIA, Sidney DE JONG and Dirk VAN’T KLOOSTER got two RBI each.
Kenny BERKENBOSCH pitched six innings for the win. He gave up only two hits, striking out four. Berry VAN DRIEL pitched a scoreless seventh to close out the game.
Krissada HEEBTHONG took the loss, allowing seven hits, six runs (4 ER) and five walks in five innings. He got four strikeouts.
