The TEX TOWN TIGERS from Enschede won the Dutch Softball title for the first time in team history. They defeated SPARKS HAARLEM on Saturday 4-3 in game four and won the Holland Series three games to one. The TIGERS overcame a two-run deficit late in the game and won it through Areke Spel’s RBI double, which plated Nadine Marinus for the decisive run. Finals MVP Lindsey Meadows picked up another complete game victory to lead TEX TOWN on the mound.
HAARLEM had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo homerun by Katrin Tuk and extended the gap even further in the third on a RBI double by Jolanda Kroesen and a RBI single by Nathalie Timmermans. With the score at 3-1 for SPARKS, the game went into the sixth period, where the TIGERS finally came through and tied the contest.
