Spain improved to 2-1 in the four-game exhibition series against the Czech Republic in Tenerife with a 7-4 victory on Wednesday. Spain scored four runs in the first for an early lead. The Czech team cut the deficit to 4-5 after six innings, but two more runs in the seventh sealed the win for the hosts of the Tenerife Baseball Week.
Daniel Jimenez went deep for Spain and drove in four runs. Fernando Hernandez had four hits and two runs. Martin Cervenka led the way for the Czech Republic by going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI. Eduardo Dominguez earned the win with five strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Jan Novak got charged with the loss.
