Templiers prevail in Clermont-Ferrand

The TEMPLIERS stay at the top of the standings after two victories in Clermont-Ferrand. Like world-class players, the TEMPLIERS were not fazed by their opponents and executed their game plan properly.
They scored three runs in the last tow frames in game one to defeat the ARVERNES 5-3. The rally was helped by two errors of the second baseman and highlighted by a RBI-triple by Ernesto Martinez (1-3, 2 RBI). Samuel Meurant went nine innings for the win. He gave up three runs (1 ER) on eight hits, while striking out nine. Ian Young (SEN) scored twice. Brett Murray took the loss after three innings of relief.

SENART won the second game with a score of 6-3. This time they decided the outcome earlier, scoring four runs between the fifth and the seventh. Sebastian Herve went three-for-four with a walk, two runs scored, two stolen bases and a RBI. Evan Blesoff started and struck out ten in five innings, while allowing four hits, three runs and six base on balls. He also had a good day at the plate with three hits, a double and two runs scored. Matthieu Brelle Andrade struck out six in four innings to close out the game for the save.

Stade Toulouse – Lions Savigny 12-13, 12-7

TOULOUSE and SAVIGNY played an offensive-oriented doubleheader last weekend. The LIONS won a wild game one, blowing a two-run-lead in the eighth to win thanks to an own four-run rally in the ninth. Tomas Salado, Carlos Jiminian and Jeffrys Blanco pitched for SAVIGNY. Quentin Pourcel and Jamal Boutagra were on the mound for the TIGERS.

STADE used two four-run innings in the second part of the doubleheader to take a 12-7 victory. The LIONS had tied the contest through four runs in the sixth, but TOULOUSE came right back and put an own four-run spot on the board in the seventh. This time the guests had no answer for it. Guillaume Coste, Jerome Dussart, Blanco and Pierrick Lemestre pitched for SAVIGNY: Euri Garcia Martinez, Nelson Azirar and Eddisson Garcia Martinez split the time for the hosts.

Paris University Club – Rouen Huskies 0-11, 7-9

The HUSKIES moved into sole position of second place in the standings with two victories in Paris. However the favorites needed some time to hold the underdog down. ROUEN scored seven runs in the seventh in the first one to broke a close game open. Dany Scalabrini had three hits in five at-bats. Boris Marche and Laurent Aoutin got two. Randy Perez had a triple. Starter Keino Perez (4 IP) combined with Giovanni Ouin (3 IP, Win) and Aoutin ( 1IP) for a four-hitter. Aaron Nobbe took the loss.

In the second ROUEN overcame a 5-7 deficit, by scoring four runs in the seventh and eighth periods to defeat a strong PUC squad 9-7. They actually out-hit the reigning French champion 15-8, but failed to convert all of their scoring opportunities. Luc Piquet, Boris Marche and Flavien Peron each had two hits for the HUSKIES. Rodriguez (PUC) impressed with a four-hit performance. Laurent Aoutin received the win. Tim Stewart took the loss.

La Guerche Hawks – Montpellier Barracudas 7-8, 2-9
The BARRACUDAS closed the gap to the top four in the Elite League in France with two victories in La Guerche. The HAWKS carried a 6-0 shutout into the seventh inning on Saturday evening, but MONTPELLIER scored seven runs in the top of the frame to take the lead. LA GUERCHE tied it for a last time in the bottom of the same period. However the ‘CUDAS added another run in the end to win 8-7.

On Sunday morning the HAWKS stayed in the game until the end of the sixth with the scoreboard showing 1-2. MONTPELLIER built up the lead in the last three frames to win 9-2.
