Posted on September 1, 2014September 1, 2014 by philipp

The Templiers Senart have won the French Baseball Championship 2014. They swept Paris UC 3-0 in the French Division I championship series. They clinched the title with a 5-4 win on Saturday afternoon. They already had a 2-0 lead following 6-4 and 7-1 wins over PUC last weekend.

A home run by Ernesto Martinez highlighted the decisive game, which was decided by early runs and a strong defense at the end. 400 people were in attendance at the Pershing ballpark according to the official box score. Ciro Silvino was named Finals MVP.

It is the first national title for Senart, which previously had won the second division in 1997 and 2003. They were runner up for the championship in 2007. The Rouen Huskies had won 10 of the last 11 championships in the French Division I, but this year were eliminated in the semi-finals.
