According to GrandeSlam.net Telemarket Rimini is on the verge of signing former Major League outfielder Alex Romero. The 29-year-old Venezuelan, who is currently playing winter ball in his home country, batted .239/.279/.339 with two homeruns, four triples, 14 doubles, 27 runs and 30 RBI in 144 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2008 and 2009. In the Minors he also played for the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins organizations as well as in Mexico. Split between Rookie and Triple-A levels he had a .306/.372/.424 batting line. He spent the 2012 season with the Tigres de Quintana Roo in Cancun, where he also got suspended for 50 games (to serve in 2013) after testing positive for doping.
