The Solingen Alligators invited media to a press event this week. The club revealed two more transfers. 20-year-old infielder Lars Szameitpreuss is going to leave the team and will most likely join the Mainz Athletics. However the A’s haven’t confirmed the transaction yet. Meanwhile 30-year-old Sascha Steffens is on the verge of joining Solingen. He is coming from the Cologne Cardinals. Both clubs still need to find an agreement on the transfer fee to make the deal official.
Szameitpreuss batted .396/.525/.438 with 21 runs and 11 RBI in 22 games for the Alligators this year. He was used at second base and short. Steffens, who won the batting title in the northern division of the Baseball-Bundesliga in 2009, played all 25 games in 2012 in center field. He went .232/.556/.250 with 18 runs and 6 RBI. Solingen already had confirmed this fall that Travis Bass will be back for a second season. Additionally Tanner Leighton is going to join the team. Dominik Wulf will play his last season.
