The new season in the Australian Baseball League is just a couple of days away. The Sydney Blue Sox announced their 40-man roster. It features a couple of well-known Australians like pitcher Craig Anderson, infielders Zac Shepherd and Trent D’Antonio as well as former Major League outfielder Trent Oeltjen. Also on the roster is Danny Arribas. The 21-year-old was born in Miami, but grew up in the Netherlands. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2011 and is playing professionally since then. This summer he was batting .307/.399/.380 in the Gulf Coast League, splitting time behind the plate and at first base.
The Blue Sox will open the 2013/2014 season in the ABL on the road against the Perth Heat on November 1. This weekend they will play three exhibition games against the State League All Stars and the ABL Imports. All games will be played at Blue Sox stadium.
