The Therwil Flyers need another comeback. The Bern Cardinals opened the 2012 Swiss championship series this weekend with a pair of wins to take a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-five series. On Saturday Bern scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie in a 6-4 win, overcoming two BJ Roper-Hubbert homeruns in the process. Ryan Byrne struck out 13 in a complete game victory. On Sunday the Cardinals prevailed 5-3, having built an early 4-0 lead en route to the win. The Flyers brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but couldn’t get the crucial hit. Games three and four will be played next weekend. Bern needs just one more to clinch yet another championship.
