Posted on February 5, 2011February 4, 2011 by philipp

The Swedish Elitserien is going to kick off the 2011 season on May 3 with a game between Alby and the RIG Academy. One day later the Academy will face reigning vice champion Stockholm. Both games will be played at 7pm at the ballpark in Sundbyberg. Four days later Sundbyberg Heat, Karlskoga Bats, Goteborg and Gefle open the season. The Leksand Lumberjacks will play its first games on May 21.

The Academy is playing out of competition in the Elitserien, as they have replaced TranĂ¥s, which withdraw from the league due to player shortage. The regular season in Swedish Baseball will be played until July 3. Afterwards the top six teams advance into the next round, battling for a semi-final spot. The seventh-ranked team has to play in the Kvalserien, trying to secure an Elitserien spot in 2012.
