After the Rättvik Butchers won two of three games against the Sundyberg Heat on opening weekend in the Swedish Elitserien, the Swedish Academy and the reigning champion Stockholm Monarchs entered the competition on Wednesday.
The Academy stunned Stockholm with a 12-5 win in eight innings. The Academy scored eight runs in the seventh and eighth to claim the victory. Max Hill went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Trolle Brandt had a triple and scored three times. Mike Cochran drove in two for Stockholm.
League play continues on Saturday, when the Sölvesborg Firehawks take on the Academy in a doubleheader.
