WBSC Europe Cancels 2022 Super6 Baseball Tournament

Posted on February 25, 2022 by MrBB

WBSC Europe has canceled the 2022 Super6 national team tournament scheduled for early September in Barcelona, citing “the withdrawals of the awarded organizers” and clashes with the schedules of some of the qualified teams.

The Super6 tournament, which was first organized in 2018, would have brought together the top six finishers from last year’s European Championship (in order of finish): the Netherlands, Israel, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Great Britain.

The next Super6 baseball tournament is scheduled for 2024.

With the event’s cancellation, the 2022 European baseball calendar loses one highlight, but there is still a wealth of baseball on offer, including three tournaments — U12, U18, and the Women’s European Championship — that provide qualification for 2023 WBSC world championships.
