The Netherlands and Spain remained undefeated in the Super 6 Baseball tournament in Hoofddorp, Netherlands after day three. On Thursday Spain beat Germany in the afternoon. In the evening the Dutch team edged out Italy in another thrilling matchup between the two European Baseball rivals. In the morning the Czech Republic won a slugfest against Belgium for their first win in the tournament.

The Czech Republic and Belgium were locked into a back and forth battle on Thursday morning with the Czech winning 15-10 after 30 hits and 3 hours, 36 minutes on the field. Eight combined runs in the seventh and eighth innings lifted Czechia to the win. Martin Muzik hit a home run, a double and drove in six runs. Matej Hejma, Premek Chroust and Martin Cervinka also hit the ball over the fence. Thomas De Wolf, Dennis De Quint and Steven De Lannoy went deep for Belgium. Martin Schneider struck out four in two scoreless innings of relief for the win. Yannick Gontier got charged with the loss.

The first two batters in the game, Luis Guillorme and Leo Rodriguez, greeted Germany’s starting pitcher Markus Solbach with a home run and a triple on a dropped fly ball in center field, setting the tone in a 9-1 win. Guillorme ended up with three RBI. Richard Montiel went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Espagne. Eric Brenk scored the lone run for Germany on a ground out by Nadir Ljatifi. Daniel Alvarez earned the win on the mound, conceding only an unearned run on four hits and a walk. Solbach finished with 6 2/3 innings, allowing 14 hits, nine runs (8 ER) and two base on balls.

The highly anticipated matchup between Italy and the Netherlands even exceeded expectations on Thursday evening at the Super 6. The Dutch team celebrated a 9-8 win in ten innings thanks to a walk-off RBI single by Randolph Oduber. Dwayne Kemp had tied the game moments earlier with a RBI single. In the top of the frame Andrew Maggi had given Italy a 8-7 lead. The Netherlands forced extra innings in the back-and-forth affair with solo home runs by Kalian Sams and Scinarf Loopstok in the bottom of the ninth. Sams and Loopstok each hit two home runs in the game and combined for five RBI. Curt Smith also went deep for the Netherlands. Chris Collabello hit a home run for Italy. Alex Liddi collected three hits, three runs and two RBI. Loek van Mil ended up with the win in relief. Alex Bassani got charged with the loss.
On Friday Belgium and Germany kick off day four with a matchup between winless teams. In the afternoon the Czech Republic take on Italy.
