On day two of the Super 6 Baseball tournament in Hoofddorp, Netherlands on Wednesday, the three favored teams improved to 2-0 apiece. In the morning Italy held on to a win over Belgium. In the afternoon Spain overpowered the Czech Republic. In the evening host Netherlands downed Germany.

Robel Garcia hit for the cycle in Italy’s 7-4 win over Belgium on Wednesday morning. He went 4-for-5 with four RBI. His three-run home run in the third gave Italy a 3-0 lead, which they would raise to 5-1 after six innings. Belgium got within a single run with three runs in the eighth. However two runs in the ninth secured the win for Italy. Angelo Palumbo pitched 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. Artuur Driessens took the loss despite eight solid innings.

Spain beat the Czech Republic 12-7 in a slugfest in the afternoon game on Wednesday. Spain scored five runs in the first – including four on a grand slam by Blake Ochoa – and led 8-1 after three innings. The Czech Republic didn’t give up, but seven runs were not enough to come back against a strong Spanish team. Richard Montiel and Jesus Ustariz also went deep for Spain. Jakub Malik and Tomas Junec homered for the Czech. Ricardo Hernandez received the win. Jan Novak took the loss.

The Netherlands also picked up their second win in as many days in the evening game on Wednesday, defeating Germany 13-1. A pair of five-run rallies in the third and the seventh turned the game into a blowout and a mercy-rule shortened game. Dwayne Kemp with a leadoff home run and Sicnarf Loopstock went deep. Gilmer Lampe and Dudley Leonora combined for six hits, four runs scored and five RBI. Nine different players scored for the Netherlands. Diegomar Markwell pitched a complete game for the win. Simon Gühring scored the lone run for Germany after three consecutive hits to open the bottom of the fourth. Nadir Ljatifi had two hits.
Day four on Thursday will again feature three games with the highlight being the clash between Italy and the Netherlands in the evening. In the afternoon Spain hopes to go 3-0 against Germany.
