A strong pitching effort by pitcher Doo Sung HWANG led Korea to a 3-0 shutout past Chinese Taipei. They are now playing Australia in a game on Sunday to determine fifth place.

HWANG threw seven one-hit-one-walk innings on the way to his first win at the World Cup of Baseball. He struck out five.

The offense delivered the needed run-support. They scored their first run in the fifth on a RBI-single by Hyun SON. Seung Hwa LEE, who was three for three, drove in two more. Ki Nam PARK had three hits.

Chien-Fu YANG took the loss. He gave up two runs (1 ER) on eight hits in six innings.
