Posted on February 11, 2010February 11, 2010 by philipp

Raynard DoranAccording to Rogier van Zon of Honkbalsite.com the Dutch Hoofdklasse club Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam has signed the right-handed pitcher/outfielder Raynard Doran for the upcoming season. The 22-year-old was born in Willemstad, Curacao and signed with the Minnesota Twins organization in 2006 as an outfielder. He batted .199/.286/.242 in two seasons in the Dominican Summer League before converting to pitching after the 2007 season.

However Doran only made 17 appearances in the DSL and the Gulf Coast Leagues over the next two years being limited to seven innings in 2009 due to an injury. Overall he had an ERA of 2.55 with 21 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings (13 walks). The Twins released him last October. He also was part of the Caribbean team during the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week and a member of the Dutch preliminary roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic. He already has arrived in Rotterdam last weekend.
