Spanish Division de Honor opens 2011 Season at the end of February

Posted on December 3, 2010 by philipp

The Spanish Baseball and Softball Federation announced a tentative calendar for the 2011 season on Thursday. The 2011 season in the Division de Honor will start on the weekend of February 26 and 27 and ends on July 16 and 17.

The league will make breaks for the Copa del Rey on April 23 and 24 with the best four teams from 2010 CB Sant Boi, FC Barcelona, Tenerife Marlins and Baseball Navarra and for the European Cup Tournaments in Parma and Amsterdam on June 4 and 5. Postponed games will be made up on May 7 and 8, as well as August 6 and 7.

Nine of the ten teams of the 2010 league lineup will return in 2011. The Sevilla Red Sox will be the newcomers, replacing the relegated El Llano from Gijon as the tenth team. The draw for the actual schedule in the Division de Honor will be made next week.

The Division de Honor Softball will kick off its 2011 season on March 20 and will conclude the regular season on June 19. There will be breaks on April 24, May 8 and May 22. The championship series will be played on July 3 and July 10.
