The Spanish Division de Honor club CB SANT BOI signed the Venezuelan left-handed pitcher Carlos Alvarez. He is 23 years old and spent the last six seasons in the American Minor Leagues. The Maracaibo-native signed as an undrafted amateur free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003 and made his debut the same year in the Arizona Summer League (Rookie).

The following years he moved through the farm system of the club, reaching Double-A in 2005. In 2008 he joined the Florida Marlins organization. Besides two starts, Alvarez was mainly used as a reliever in his career, posting an ERA of 3.38 and a WHIP of 1.27 in 187 games. He struck out 318 batters in 290 1/3 innings, walking 103.
