Solingen’s Moritz Buttgereit, Dominik Wulf most likely not returning in 2014

Posted on October 12, 2013 by philipp

After losing the German finals in five games to the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg, outfielder Moritz Buttgereit and infielder Dominik Wulf of the Solingen Alligators revealed to the local press that they most likely hanging up their cleats.

The 29-year-old Buttgereit has been playing for the Alligators since the 2005 season. He was one of the best hitters in the northern division this year, batting .451/.563/.657 with 15 extra base hits, 45 runs and 28 RBI in 28 games.

The 31-year-old Wulf joined the team in Solingen in 2003 following three seasons with the Cologne Dodgers. He probably already would have retired last year, but a knee injury cut his season short and he decided to play one more season. He went .318/.420/.435 with 20 runs and 13 RBI in 23 games. He was named best batter of the finals.
