The Solingen Alligators and Heidenheim Heidekoepfe swept opening weekend on the road in the German Baseball-Bundesliga semi-finals and are just one win away from the finals.
Solingen won 5-1 and 9-2 against defending champion Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg. Harry Glynne pitched a complete game in the first match, as Solingen overcame 13 strikeouts by Mike Bolsenbroek. Daniel Sanchez had four RBI in the second.
The Heidekoepfe meanwhile beat the Stuttgart Reds on their home turf 14-4 and 7-1. Andrew Smith and James McOwen hit grand slams. Luke Sommer and Tyler Lockwood pitched strongly on the mound. Stuttgart’s Thomas de Wolf had to leave game one with an injury in the third.
The semi-finals continue on Friday evening respective Saturday afternoon.
