The Solingen Alligators have added a new starting pitcher for the 2011 season. On Tuesday the northern division club in the German Baseball-Bundesliga announced the signing of the 27-year-old American Jerome Burton. The Chicago native is succeeding southpaw Josh Rickards as the foreign pitcher option in game two each week. He made three starts for the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg this year before going back to the United States. He gave up seven runs (6 ER) on 14 hits and eleven walks in 14 1/3 innings, while striking out ten. Burton is already working with new Alligators head coach David Daniels to improve his control. He is scheduled to arrive in Germany in mid-March.
