Softball Switzerland – League Report #10

Posted on August 9, 2007April 9, 2021 by MrBB

The Therwil Flyers (14-2; 7-1) continue to lead the Swiss Softball League after two victories over the Wil Devils this past weekend. The Flyers have won eight straight games and will host the second place Bern Cardinals on Sunday in Therwil.

The Flyers are the two-time defending champs and are led by Babsi MEIERHANS (OF), Susan STAUB (C), and Melanie WANNER (IF). Next weekend’s matchup against Bern will be part of the Swiss Baseball Cup finals also being held in Therwil.

The Bern Cardinals (10-5; 4-4) swept the Zurich Challengers, 20-5 and 4-1, last weekend to take sole possession of the runner-up position. Pitcher Sibylle ZURCHER, catcher Franziska CORRADI, and Martine GILLIERON (C-IF) lead the upstart Cardinals.

The Challengers (9-7; 3-5) will battle league-leading Therwil on September 1 and close-out the regular season on September 9 against the Wil Devils. National team pitcher Leandra SIMITOVIC and Alexia ZINGG.
