Softball Italy – League Report #10

Sanotint Bollate (19-9) split with Old Parma, 7-3 and 3-7, but still ended the regular season atop the Italian Softball League. Sanotint Bollate will battle Fiorini Forli in Game 1 of their semi-final playoff matchup on September 1.

Kelly HARDIE finished with a 10-3 record and a 0.40 ERA with 139 strikeouts. With the bat, HARDIE went 26-for-61 (. 426). Another top player, Dana DEGEN, hit a sizzling .537 (36-for-67) while teammate Brenda DE BLAES hit .449 (35-for-78) with eight doubles, four triples, two homers, and scored 31 runs for league-leading Sanotint Bollate.

Mosca Macerata (18-10) disposed of Viotto Azzanese 8-1 and 8-0 to finish the regular in season in second place. Mosca will face AGMA Legnano in the first round of the playoffs.

Stacey PORTER is hitting .397 with 14 extra-base hits including six home runs and Bianca NOVELLI has five doubles and four dingers.

Kate JUDD and AMGA Legnano (16-12) earned a post-season berth by defeating Nuoro. JUDD hit .370 (34-for-92) with six doubles, three triples, and five homers while Monica VERGA was 30-for-88 (.341). Yan-Qing ZHANG is the team ace with a 5-1 mark with a 0.19 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.

Fiorini Forli (16-12) rebounded from two losses to AMGA Legnano two weeks ago and earned a playoff berth with a 2-0 win over DES Caserta. The defending champs are led by top pitcher Jessica SALLINGER who is 7-3 with 95 strikeouts and a 0.71 ERA.
