Showdown between FC Barcelona and CB Sant Boi for Spanish Championship

Posted on July 9, 2010 by philipp

Even though there are officially no playoffs in the Spanish Division de Honor, we’re still going to enjoy some sort of finals this weekend, as the FC Barcelona and CB Sant Boi will play for the Championship in a two-game series in Montjuic. Both teams have won 31 of the first 34 games in 2010. Since Sant Boi won the first two games of the season series at the end of March, they only need one victory to clinch the title, while Barcelona is looking for the sweep.

Both teams dominated the league this year. Sant Boi leads all ten teams with a .348 batting average and a team ERA of 1.19. Barcelona follows in third with a .321 batting average, but is ranked second with an ERA of 1.96. However Barca still has scored the most runs in the Division de Honor with 326 (Sant Boi 300). With Junior Guerra (10-1, ERA 0.99) and Jose Estebin Cruz (8-2, ERA 1.24) on the mound for Sant Boi and Delio Miguel Martinez (9-0, ERA 2.00) and Pedro Pablo Belmonte (10-1, ERA 1.76) for Barcelona, we’re expecting two close games.
