Showdown between CB Sant Boi and Tenerife Marlins in Division de Honor

Posted on April 9, 2010 by philipp

Sant Boi hopes to defend its clean slateCB Sant Boi has won all twelve games so far this season in the Spanish Division de Honor. After the Catalonian duel with the FC Barcelona two weeks ago and the Easter matchup with Baseball Navarra they will face another strong opponent in week seven, as defending champion Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz comes to town.

The Marlins are currently in third place with an 8-4 record, four games behind leader Sant Boi. Since a four-game losing streak against Barcelona and Navarra, they got back into victory lane with sweeps over Vigo and Valencia, but they weren’t anything but lopsided. Right in time for the games against CB they are adding personal to its roster, as Spanish national team pitcher Antonio Noguera has arrived from Venezuela and the Spanish U21 star Franklin Tavares, who played for Halcones last year, reinforces the offense.

Sant Boi, which leads the league with a team batting average of .364 and an ERA of 1.08, should be at full strength with Junior Guerra and Jose Estebin Cruz expected to get the starting nods over Jose Guanchez and Pedro Luis Peraza against Puerto Cruz, if they continue alternating. Leslie Nacar and Ivan Granados are set for the guests from the Canary Islands. First pitch for the doubleheader is schedule on Saturday at 4pm CET.
