Shortstop Daniel Bittar to join Montepaschi Grosseto

Daniel Bittar is leaving Rebecchi Piacenza of the Serie A to join the Italian Baseball League club Montepaschi Grosseto. Piacenza confirmed the transfer on its website. The Italian-Venezuelan shortstop is already the second player to leave the team for the IBL after Peter Avvento went to T&A San Marino. The 25-year-old switch hitter played the past three years in Piacenza and batted .371 (OBP .451/SLG .636) with six homeruns, four triples, eleven doubles, 35 runs and 34 RBI in 36 games this season. Two winters ago Bittar was a member of the European winter league ALB Orkas in the Venezuelan Liga Paralela.
