The Los Angeles Dodgers swapped catchers this week when they sent AJ Ellis to the Philadelphia Phillies for Carlos Ruiz. To add a backup catcher until Ruiz also arrives with the Dodgers they called up Dutch national team catcher Shawn Zarraga. The 27-year-old switch hitter had been hitting .265/.348/.327 between Double A and Triple A this year. Zarraga also was added to the 40-man roster and also could be back with the big league team in September, when rosters expand from 25 to 40 players.
