Posted on August 28, 2008August 28, 2008 by philipp

After mixed experiences for the Dutch National Team at the Olympics in Beijing the players return to their clubs and start into the decisive phase of the championship. Second-ranked DOOR NEPTUNUS receives special help for the stretch run, as designated hitter/first baseman Sharnol Adriana joins the club from Saturday, August 30 on. The 37-year-old appeared in 121 international games but has never played in the Dutch Hoofdklasse.

Adriana was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays organization in the 1991 amateur draft and played for various minor league teams of the Jays till 1998. He later joined Independent League teams before moving to Mexico, where he played till this summer in the Mexican Summer League (similar to Triple A). In 2008 he batted .327 (OBP .419/SLG .523) with 17 homeruns, 83 runs scored and 76 RBIs in 110 games for Veracruz.

The Dutch Major League resumes their schedule tonight with 2007 champion CORENDON KINHEIM leading the standings with a 26-7 record, 1,5 games in front of NEPTUNUS. Both clubs are going to face each other this weekend.
