The Elitserien enters the postseason this weekend. After an interesting end to the regular season, the semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7 in a best-of-three format with home field advantage for the better seed.
In the first matchup the 2007 champion and winner of the regular season, KARLSKOGA is facing last year’s runner up SUNDBYBERG. The BATS are led by pitchers Adam Sowell (5-2, ERA 2.13) and Kent Karlsson (9-2, ERA 3.91), who hope for a great series by Dennis Kelly (AVG .513, 12 2B, 5 3B, 5 HR, 42 runs, 32 RBI). The HEAT had a difficult start into the season and finished in fourth. Michael Andersson (7-3, ERA 3.39) is their main stay of the pitching staff. Philip Gajzler (AVG .387, 33 runs, 12 2B, 2 3B, 5 HR, 29 RBI) and Joaquin Pedroso (AVG .378, 39 runs, 21 RBI) are leading their offense.
In the second series the RÄTTVIK BUTCHERS are host to STOCKHOLM. Eunique Johnson (AVG .484, 20 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR, 38 runs, 41 RBI) helped RÄTTVIK an impressive first year after their promotion to the Elitserien this winter. Matthias Stenis (8-2, ERA 2.69), Peter Jansson (3-5, ERA 5.98) and Johnson (5-0, ERA 2.67) are expected to start in this matchup for the BUTCHERS. Magnus Pilegård (AVG .505, 30 runs), Peter Johannesen (AVG .385, 39 runs) and Björn Johannesen (AVG .323, 20 runs) each drove in more than 30 runs this year for STOCKHOLM. Joakim Claesson (7-2, ERA 1.89), Oscar Carlstedt (3-1, ERA 4.76) and Jakob Claesson (2-3, ERA 5.61) hope to stop the RÄTTVIK offense.
