The Seattle Mariners have released German right-handed pitcher Daniel Thieben. The Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg announced the transactions and at the same time revealed that he leaves the German Baseball-Bundesliga club as well. The new destination for the Dohren native is not yet known.
The 21-year-old Thieben played three seasons in the Seattle Mariners organization for the AZL Mariners and the Pulaski Mariners at the Rookie level. Between 2012 and 2014 he appeared in 51 games with an ERA of 4.41. He struck out 52 in 79 2/3 innings, while walking 70.
Developed by the Dohren Wild Farmers, Thieben made the move to the Regensburg Academy and from there signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners in in November of 2011. Since the 2011 Baseball World Cup in Panama he also has been a member of the German National Team.
