Schedule set for Dutch Team’s Trip to Spring Training in Florida

The organizers of the international spring training tournament “St. Petersburg International Baseball” released the schedule for the event with the Dutch National Team, Canada, Seoul Nexen Heroes (KOR), Penn State University, St. Petersburg College and Major League squads from the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays. The tourney will be played from February 21st to March 13th. The Netherlands are going to play six games overall, one each against the Rays and the Phillies. Other opponents will be the Korean team, Canada and St. Petersburg College.

All games will be played at the Al Lang Field (or now called Progress Energy Park) in St. Petersburg. It is the former spring training and minor league home of several Major League organizations, including the New York Yankees, New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets among others. However since the Tampa Bay Devil Rays left after the 2008 spring training the site was vacant. Now it is going to be used to host a series of International Baseball Games, not only in Spring Training, but also in the summer.
