Astros and Marlins Will Decide SBL Title This Weekend

Posted on August 14, 2021August 20, 2021 by MrBB

The Spanish Baseball League (SBL) championship will be decided this weekend in Valencia, with the best-of-five series tied at one game apiece heading into Saturday’s Game Three contest between the Astros Valencia and Tenerife Marlins.

The teams split the first two games of the best-of-five series two weeks ago in Puerto de la Cruz, with the host Marlins winning Game One 8-2 (box score) and the Astros avenging the loss with a 13-3 win (box score) in Game Two.

The Astros finished the SBL regular season atop the standings (22-2), with the Marlins a game behind. Valencia won three of the five regular season contests between the two clubs, which have combined to win the past eight Spanish championships. CBS Barcelona in 2012 was the last Spanish champion not to hail from either Valencia or Tenerife.

Game Three of the series is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, at 16:00 (CEST), with Game Four of the series scheduled for Sunday (11:00 CEST). Game Five, if needed, would follow Game Four on Sunday afternoon. All of the action can be streamed via the SBL streaming page.
