The HUSKIES were not satisfied with last week’s split in TOULOUSE and came out swinging against LA GUERCHE. They scored seven runs in the opening frame on their way to a 17-1 rout. David Gauthier had three RBI and scored three runs. Romain David had two RBIs and two runs on his side. Giovanni Ouin received the win, going five innings, while giving up one hit, one run and three walks. He struck out five. Ludovic Clairet took the loss. He was charged with twelve hits, 17 runs (10 ER) and six base on balls in six innings. He also hit three batters and struck out four.

ROUEN also celebrated a lopsided win in the second part of the doubleheader. They scored seven runs in the first two and beat the HAWKS 10-1. Boris Marche had three RBI on tow singles. Pierre Le Gouillou scored twice. Keino Perez allowed one run on six hits in five innings for the victory. Jason Kosow made his debut for the HUSKIES in relief. Jean Pascual Furet gave up seven hits, ten runs and seven BB in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss.

The defense of LA GUERCHE made a combined nine errors this weekend. This certainly didn’t help against ROUEN.

Paris University Club – Templiers Senart 1-11, 3-13

SEN 222 122 0 11 7 0
PUC 000 000 1 1 4 8

The TEMPLIERS crushed PARIS on the road. They scored in the first six periods in the first game to win 11-1 after seven innings. David Meurant had three RBI. Ian Young (RBI) and Ernesto Martinez went each 2-for-3. Samuel Meurant received the win after six dominating three-hit-innings. He struck out seven. Tim Stewart hit a solo homerun for PUC. They made a stunning eight errors in the match.

SENART needed a bit longer to decide the second part of the doubleheader. They took a 2-0 lead in midway through the third, but PARIS came back and rallied for three runs in the bottom of the third. However shortly afterwards the game was over in favor for the TEMPLIERS, after they had scored six in the fourth to regain the advantage. David Meurant (3-5) hit two doubles and had three RBI. Ernesto Martinez got three his. Ian Young tripled and had two RBI. Sebastian Herve (2-3) stole two bases and scored four runs. Matthieu Brelle-Andrade pitched five innings for the win. He gave up four hits and three runs, striking out four.

Savigny Lions – Arvernes Clermont-Ferrand 2-1, 10-8
SAVIGNY stayed undefeated in the elite division in France, beating the surprise of last week twice. They won the first game thanks to a complete game by Jerome Dussart 2-1, who defeated Doug Grant in a pitchers duel. They started fast and scored two runs in the first two frames. CLERMONT-FERRAND cut the deficit to run in the sixth, when Brice Lorienne scored. They brought two runners in scoring position the eighth, but failed to tie the contest. Dussart retired the side on consecutive strikeouts in the ninth. The ARVERNES out-hit the Lions eight to five and made no errors opposed to three of the home team. Nevertheless they had scored two runs and received the win.

The second match was a spectacular slugfest, with SAVIGNY holding on to a 10-8 victory. ARVERNES led nearly the complete game, but failed to hold on to a 8-5 lead in the eighth. The LIONS rallied for five runs on five hits (four doubles) in the bottom of the eighth. Three groundouts by CLERMONT-FERRAND ended the thriller. SAVIGNY had 13 hits and made five errors. The ARVERNES countered with ten valid ones and four miscues.

Stade Toulouse – Montpellier Barracudas 2-12, 0-7
The BARRACUDAS eliminated the memories of the opening weekend, when they had lost twice on the road against CLERMONT-FERRAND. They crushed STADE in TOULOUSE 12-2 and 7-0. Jean-Michel Mayeur hit a three-run-home-run in the fourth period of the second game.

MONTPELLIER’s starters Eduard Masse and Thomas Meley went seven and eight strong innings for the wins. Jamal Boutagra took the loss in the second.
