Sant Boi still on shopping tour

Posted on February 6, 2008 by philipp

The most active team during the Spanish off-season CB Sant Boi added two more players to their revamped roster. Jose Luis RIERA and Jose CRUZ will join the club for the 2008 season. Both won the Spanish championship with the Marlins Puerto Cruz last year.

RIERA is a first baseman, who hit .346 (SLG .567) with four homeruns, 28 runs scored and 20 RBI in 2007. He also was on the roster of the national team at the Baseball World Cup (BWC) in Taiwan, hitting .250.

CRUZ is an outfielder and a catcher. He was listed as a player of the Marlins in last year’s publication of the World Cup roster. However he did not play one game for the 2007 champion. He had one hit in nine at-bats in Taiwan.

There are also rumors about another acquisition of Sant Boi. National team catcher Dewis NAVARRO could follow his teammates. He hit .402 (SLG .575) with 32 runs scored and 35 RBI for the Marlins last season. He also impressed at the BWC with a batting average of .429 (SLG .619) in seven games.
