After losing in the semifinals of the European Cup against GROSSETO last week, SAN MARINO got revenge in the Italian Baseball League on Friday. They used a six-run-eighth to overcome a 1-2 deficit to beat MONTEPASCHI 7-2.
GROSSETO had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth on Davide Dallospedale’s RBI double into left field. However they could not hold on to it. Simone Albanese tied the game with a RBI single in the bottom of the frame to start off the rally. After a sac fly by Seth La Fera to bring the score to 3-2, Martin Vazquez homered to center field with two runners on to decide the outcome definitely. Max DiBiase scored the sixth run on an error.
Dean Rovinelli also hit a homerun for T&A.
Starters Lincoln Mikkelsen (GRO) and Horacio Estrada (SMA) were locked into a pitcher’s duel in the first part of the match. Mikkelsen allowed six hits, one run and a walk in seven innings. Estrada gave up four hits and a run in 6 1/3 innings. Brian Looney relieved him and received the win. Anthony Ferrari took the loss.
Danesi Nettuno – Telemarket Rimini 2-1

NETTUNO won a low scoring affair against RIMINI by a score of 2-1. They scored two runs in the eighth to get on top. Igor Schiavetti tied the game with a RBI single. Ramon Tavarez scored the winning run on an error by shortstop Manny Alexander. RIMINI had taken the lead in the fourth through Mario Chiarini’s RBI double.
Gustavo Martinez (RIM) allowed just two hits and two walks in seven innings, while striking out eight. Nelson Cruz (NET) gave up two hits, one run and two bb in six innings. Frailyn Florian picked up the win. Matt Beech took the loss.
Rangers Redipuglia – Cariparma 3-16

CARIPARMA tallied out 16 runs on 16 hits and twelve walks to celebrate a blowout victory on the road against REDIPUGLIA. Stefano De Simoni drove in three, Michele Gerali, Marco Vasini and Riccardo Bertagnon each two. Adolfo Gomez scored thrice.
Michael Jared Natale was happy about the run support and cruised to an easy win. He allowed two runs (1 ER) on six hits and a walk in seven innings. Stephen Baldinelli gave up seven hits, five runs and three bb in four innings in the loss.

BOLOGNA scored six runs in the fifth en route to an 8-1 win in GODO. Giovanni Pantaleoni was three-for-five with a homerun, two runs scored and three RBI. Stefano Landuzzi drove in two. Claudio Liverziani scored twice.
Cody Cillo allowed three hits, one run and three bb in six innings for the win. Michael Nisco was charged with five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.
